The tannery at Fez is apparently quite a sight to see, well worth a visit. The tannery at Marrakesh is ... less so. We were walking aimlessly when a man asked us if we wanted directions to the square. We said we wanted to go somewhere that wasn't the square. He told us that we were going in the direction of the tannery. A moment later he called out to us and pointed to a large man walking in the same direction as us. "He works at the tannery. Follow him."
So we did.
As we got closer the man stopped and started pointing things out to us in halting English. The place where they study. The hammams. Where the berbers store their pelts compared to where the Arabs did. He carried on to his work but pointed us to the main tannery here first.
