Im in ur furniturez, steelin' ur loose change.

We lost the kitten today. It was about 20 minutes of searching (with lots of hand clapping and shouting hoping to wake it up and hear some mewing) before we finally worked out that it had climbed up into the innards of the sofa. It is actually an amazingly neat space, with a hammock to hold you gently while you snooze. It's also far enough back that if someone DID sit down and rapidly open the leg rest, it wouldn't matter. The kitten will be too big to get under the sofa before he'll be too big for the space underneath, so I'm not that worried about him getting stuck there but it's a pretty anti-social space to hang out. I'm trying to encourage him that ON the couch is a better option, but he's still too small to get up there without help.

what an adventure you are both having!
the first night I had mine I lost her too .. I eventually found her curled up in the bottom of the mop bucket!
I think they will deliberately look for cover at night and keep quiet. Try something simple like a cardboard box and an old jumper near to the litter tray.
wonderful photo :)

*laugh* I was pretty sure he had to be close although that's a very silly spot to take a nap.

At night, he's downstairs in a small protected area -- he's not left it yet so it seems good from his point of view. Need to work on his upstairs/daytime spots. My son worked out today though that if you put a blanket over his head, he often relaxes and stays. :)

(Edit: fixed gender confusion)
