
Mt. Lassen is the southernmost volcano in the US side of the Pacific "Ring of Fire."
Here, the heat actually causes the liquid (water? It's hard to believe we'd be allowed this close to bubbling lava, but we couldn't see inside the hole!) to bubble near the surface. This is called "The Sulfur Works," at Mt Lassen National Park.
