Well folks, it's that time of year again. This is when the rainbow shower trees go into full bloom all across the city. This beautiful cultivar of shower tree is a cross between the pink-white shower tree and the golden shower tree. Interestingly, the hybrid, which was developed at the University of Hawaii, doesn't produce any seeds. All rainbow shower trees are clones of existing trees. Because they produce no seeds, the trees tend to stay in bloom much longer than their seeded counterparts. Most years you can see these trees blooming in Honolulu from May through September.
