A closer look at the Rainbow Shower Trees

Rainbow Shower Trees (3)

Here's a little closer look at one of the rainbow shower trees. Besides looking fascinating with almost a hypnotic, kaleidescopic effect when the wind breezes through... they do smell pretty nice too. Unfortunately I can't upload the floral scent to the Internet. You'll just have to imagine it for yourself.

hmm I'm not sure. Well it looks like you can buy a rainbow shower tree here:
http://www.alohatropicals.com/

Just search for it.

Interestingly they appear to be based in California.

Y,
I asked Aloha Tropicals about what form the tree would come in. They said it would be a rooted 6 to 7 inch plant... I assume in a pot. It probably would take a couple of years before you saw a bloom out of one of those. If the floral displays this year are any indication, a heavy rain in the spring (here March) and a hot dry summer helps to make these trees bloom tremendously.

Spring rains and hot dry summers we can give em, I can wait a few years for blooms too.....looks like for $25 bucks (included shipping) we can try one here......Might have to protect in the winter though if they ever reverse the global warming

Yup, apparently you may want to bring it indoors when it gets colder than the mid 50s.

From an environmentalist's point of view, the thing I like best about this tree is that it doesn't have an easy way to go off and propagate itself. Especially here, self propagating plants can wreak havoc with delicate ecosystems. For the most part this tree plays nice and stays put.
