New Toy
Yup FedEx dropped off the little but powerful MacMini core Duo.
Sure it `ain't as pretty as an imac but it's damn fast!
at 1.66 mhz this baby is over 3 times as fast as my lil ol ibook.
Of course it doesn't hurt that it has a better system too.
Beyond gleefully opening the box and setting up the macmini itself, today's challenge was getting it to play nice with the Tivo.
I finally got the tivo to read the music and photos out of the macmini's itunes and iphoto libraries. Sure I could have just left well enough alone getting the Tivo to connect without WEP and without the firewall but what's the fun in that?
Sadly there's no macOS decoder for .tivo files yet. So even though I can see and even download the files from the Tivo I can't actually watch them on my mac yet.
I want my mac Tivotogo! Didn't they promise some sort of mac version like last year? Maybe even something that would translate the Tivo files into something that could go on the video iPods. Wow, wouldn't that make sense?
*sigh* One step at a time I guess. That and I'm still drooling over the possibility of a macbook... or maybe even just a broadband connection would be nice.
Still, it's great to back in the land of mac.

You would think their hardware designers would make monitor color fidelity a priority. Of course, you could always just buy your favorite monitor aftermarket. As far as I know, all the apple products have a video (dvi/vga) out port. As far as the IBM monitor goes, it just happens to be the most convenient monitor I had laying around. I suppose I should switch it out for the 17 inch viewsonic I put on the PC while I awaited the macmini's arrival. |

With all the graphics I do my only complaint with Mac is right now, most of their units come with flat panels.
