These young men and women don't see themselves as heroes and maybe for them, their hero trial starts after combat.

We hosted these "Wounded Warriors," at the Pacific Aviation Museum this past Thursday. Most have sustained traumatic amputation in combat in Iraq. They're now learning to adjust back into society. The day before they came to the museum they were treated to surfing lessons over at Waikiki Beach.

I'm a service-connected disabled veteran myself so I have an idea of the difficulties in the years ahead of them. Just do me one favor . . . if you ever meet any of them on your journey through life, shake their hand and tell them thank you. After what they've been through and have sacraficed its not asking too much.
