Eclipse

Ok, which one of you is eating my moon?

(This is about the best moon-shot I can do. I need a new camera.)

The trouble is that to do moon photography properly you need either a 500+ mm telephoto or a telescope and camera mount. Either option is pricey.

Also the trick is to underexpose - the moon is a lot brighter than you expect it to be.

A good starting manual setting would be 1/250, F8.0 apparently.

Yeah, my camera likes to do automatic everything though.

In the end, the only way to get a faster shutter speed was to point the camera at a bright light in the house, half-press the shutter, then point it out the window at the moon while keeping the shutter half-pressed the whole time. Sigh.
