When I came here in 1976, we dug these out of the bottom in the shallows, boiled them till they opened, and ate them out of the shells. Not bad.

This was on the top of a semi-island --it's an island when the tide is in; when the tide goes out, an isthmus(?) connects it to the mainland. There's a hot spring in the middle of the isthmus.
