Totally free of charge and a real feast for the eyes. City dwellers are deprived of nature, but not of beautiful city lightings. How many times I have set down here, on different events, with different people, soaking in this somewhat comforting enviroment - I have lost count. Some might call this a tourist trap, but for me, this is home.

This is taken in a surburb called Khatib, where highrise HDB flats house most of the population. The locals can just slip into this quiet corner around this man-made lake to hill. Round the corner from where I shot this photo, there are families going for their night walks, joggers keeping fit, and lovers whispering into one another's ears.

 alt="Yu Sheng" style="border: 1px solid #ddd;" />

Yusheng 鱼生 is a Chinese-style raw fish salad. It usually consists of strips of raw fish mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. Yusheng literally means "raw fish" but since the Chinese relates "fish (鱼)" with its homophone "abundance (余)", eating this dish symbolizes an increase in abundance. Therefore, it is popular in countries like Singapore, Hongkong etc. to eat yusheng during Chinese New Year to welcome abundance, prosperity and vigor. When eating this appetizer dish, chopsticks clash in the air as diners shout out wishes and toss their raw fish salads high into the air.

Taken in restaurant Crown Village at NS Hometeam Sembawang, during the last day of Chinese New Year 2008 (golden rat year).

In the Empire-style part of the town, the low wooden houses belong to the classical town plan where the streets form squares. It is the home of Finland's greatest poet, Johan Ludvig Runeberg.

The town of Porvoo has about 47 000 inhabitants and an area of 654 km2. The town is a thriving centre for the economic region of the eastern part of the province of Uusimaa.
