I was trying to get a photograph of him near the plant pot so that it was clear how much he's grown. Unfortunately, this is also quite near his food bowl and he got upset that I was standing there with the camera rather than finding him a treat.
Bedtimes continue to be traumatic. Clearing off the balcony area and taking him down held no weight, this time -- the moment I set him in his bed, he dashed out and up the stairs. Cliff said it looked like the Flintstones and I was lucky the cat didn't lock me out.
I think he would have if he knew how.
I tried the same approach as had worked the night before -- close off the balcony within his sight (so there's no point in going that way without me) and then heading off into the garden and around to the front door. Didn't work: he decided that there was CLEARLY a way into the house via the garden and so he was going to follow me to it. In the end I had to double-back to lose him and then run up the path to the driveway. I waited there to make sure he didn't show up -- but without me in sight he was loathe to carry on that way and he retreated back to his sleeping area.
It's only a big deal because he can go up stairs but can't actually get downstairs yet -- so by following me, he'll end up trapped in an exposed area with no way back down to the protection (walls and roof but open door) of the area where his bed is.
I hope he works out the stairs soon...
