Kitkat went back to the vet today and was proclaimed in good health. He was much happier to see her this time and sat still during most of the examination.
When we came home, I left the cat carrier out and he decided maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

In my experience, it's always good to leave the carrier out somewhere, so they're always used to it.
