This is my first project for the handbuilding class I am taking the semester at Emporia State University. Not exacting what I was looking for but I was also working with class for the first time in probably 14 or 15 years.
If it survives the first firing I'll have to decide how to glaze it. But that is for later.
I am slowly gathering up my tools the I used back when and while working on the class projects I am going to trying working on some projects of my own.

Just remember you have no real control on the Copper colors in raku but if glazed it would look good crackled......Want to be updated on your work when possible......... |

(only 5 in the class and 2 or 3 projects students that meet and the same time.) I brought the raku firing and it seem that they have gotten ride of the raku kiln. Though it seems to me that back when I took class there back inthe '80s that the then instructor and his classes built the kiln. But maybe they got rid of it for the same reason that they did away with the gas kilns and went to electric. The instructor suggested under glazes which is something I've never done. I'll have to check it out on the net. next project in doing a self portrait (head only)(slabs coils or whatever. for which he expects sketches which is something I've never done of anything I've done. Oh, well I give I'll learn. I'm think characture. My son said do the head than do the sketch to match. |
