Our new mailbox. We have lived here for 26 years and this is either the 4th or 5th mailbox. Living on the highway in the country mailboxs seem to be the thing to hit and destory for the local hooligans. We found pieces of the old mailbox and parts from the vehical that hit it for about 500 ft down the highway. all we found of the post (a piece of cedar about 4 to 6 inches in diameter)were a few shredded pieces. This one is set in cement. Although the post may look weak, what you cann't see from this shot is that it is backed by a heavy piece of i-beam.
